On the day of our shoot scattered thunderstorms littered the area…heavy rain and strong winds. There were flooding and down trees so we thought the day was lost. However, we waited patiently, as we always do, hoping for the clouds to break. The afternoon was winding down and suddenly a glimpse of hope. The heavy rain turned into light showers, which turned into light sprinkles and finally it stopped. We packed our gear and started our drive.
The shoot location was at a lake house located on top of a mountain. Upper Greenwood Lake to be specific, near Vernon Valley. We’ve driven near there before. Lots of trees and winding roads…full of nature. However, this time the conditions were different. The storm clouds were breaking apart as we drove up through very narrow roads. You know the scene in the movie Avatar, when they ascended up to the hanging mountains (aka Hallelujah Mountains)? Well, it was a similar sight and feeling! Okay, maybe I’m exaggerating a bit but you get the idea. As we continued our drive up, small clouds danced above the trees and on the side of the mountain. Suddenly, we round a corner and just above the tree line we can see some blue sky but almost instantly the clouds come back.
We carried on, calling Sarah & Steve on our way up, who ensured us that the sun was out on their side of the mountain. We were getting anxious. After a few more turns and some more narrow roads we finally reach our destination.
Oh what a sight! We were on top a of mountain, on a lake house, and the sun is shining through the breaking clouds. It was serene…so peacefull…it was like a painting.
We finally see Sarah & Steve and we all knew that this shoot was going to be special. These two beautiful and loving couple couldn’t have picked a more perfect location for their shoot. This is where Steve proposed to Sarah and now we know why.
Thank you Sarah & Steve for allowing us to be part of this special time in your life. We hope you enjoy your pictures as much as we enjoyed our shoot at the lake.
